HOME CLEANING MADE EASY

HOW TO CLEAN A GLASS SHOWER DOOR

So you've got water spots on your shower door that won't come off. You've tried everything and it still isn't budging, or maybe it is, but not enough. Here is the answer.

First of all, I want to inform you that I held off on cleaning this door for a couple of months because I planned on doing this tutorial. I wanted to make sure it was really water stained.  I couldn't wait any longer. Here is a picture of the door.

Step 1.  Get yourself some Bar Keepers Friend. You can use either the powder or liquid form. It is found in most grocery and department stores next to the Comet and Ajax and it's fairly cheap. I used the liquid in this tutorial.

Step 2. Using rubber gloves, smear it all over the area that is water stained.

I suggest leaving it on for at least 2 minutes. I clean the rest of the shower while it is working. After you let it sit a little, gently rub just with the glove.  It's kind of cool actually, how you can feel the glass getting smooth. That is the water stains disappearing.

Step 3. Rinse it thoroughly. It leaves streaks if you don't get it all off. I use a sponge to help if I am impatient. As you can see, this is much easier than trying to take vinegar or Lime Away to it and scrubbing until you are blue in the face.

I'm going to suggest my dynamic duo for cleaning porcelain sinks and stove ranges. This is Bar Keepers Friend and those little sponges that have the plastic netting over them. These are really such a great pair for getting gunk off anything.

Just to recap, here are the before and after pictures.

Pretty awesome.

CLOGGED DRAIN

If you've got a clogged shower drain, one of the most simple ways to help get the gunk down the pipes is simple. Boiling water and bleach. Slowly pour the water and bleach at the same time right by the drain until the water is gone. I use probably about 2 cups of bleach to 8-10 cups of boiling water.

This works only for light clogs of course. If the problem is father down, you may want to try Liquid Plumber or a virtual plumber.

Happy drains.
